Guytons: fresh seafood from ocean to fillet

A hallmark of Nelson’s Wakefield Quay, Guyton Fisheries was established by Arthur Guyton in the 1960s, supplying households, fine-dining restaurants and wholesalers with locally caught fish.

Today, Guytons remains a well-known name in Nelson Tasman. They operate three local retail outlets and an extensive wholesale operation supplying seafood enthusiasts throughout New Zealand with fresh, sustainable fish and seafood caught daily by Talley’s. Kiwi favourites such as tarakihi, gurnard, warehou and more are sourced whole and entirely hand-processed by some of New Zealand’s best fish filleters.

Aaron Fleming, Guytons’ general manager, says that everyone on the 18-person team loves seafood and knows they are providing families across Nelson with premium product they can trust. “The seafood that comes into Guytons every day is as fresh as possible, and we take great pride in how it’s filleted. Seafood is one of the healthiest proteins you can eat. The fact that it’s delicious doesn’t hurt, either!”

At Seafood Saturday, you’ll be able to taste dishes featuring oysters and Omega clams sourced by Guytons.
